
The Mentor
Who Can Become a Mentor?
In order to become a mentor, volunteers must display a strong desire to be a positive role model to the youth and actually be willing to act upon this desire. Becoming a mentor means you have the ability to contribute time and effort in supporting your mentee. Other qualifications are as follows:
Mentor Role
- Must serve as positive role model
- Must commit to one-on-one mentoring sessions once a week for one year or a nine-month school year
- Must cultivate menteeās strengths and interests through the guidance of program sponsored projects
- Must attend orientation and regular training sessions
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must complete the application and screening process
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be able to identify positive qualities in youth
- Must adhere to the Mentoring in Action policies and procedures
